Play it Forward
Instrument Donation Program
Instrument Donors
Instrument In-Kind Donor Policies
OCCTAC welcomes instrument donations throughout the year as a part of our effort to address our families who need instruments or need tuition assistance. Many of our students come to us without instruments and must depend on our limited resources to supply their needs. We need your help to provide our students with the necessary equipment to make great works of music come to life.

If you have gently used instruments, please consider donating them to OCCTAC. If you do not have any instruments to donate, then please consider purchasing new instruments to give to children who cannot afford to buy one for themselves, or agree to place the instrument on our “Play it Forward” page which in turn will go into a scholarship fund for families needing tuition assistance.
How It Works
-
Send a donation emails including the picture(s) of the instrument to the Music Department Program Coordinator Phoebe Stanciell at phoebes@occtac.org.
-
There is a 24-48 hour response time from the department’s coordinator.
-
Once the department coordinator has responded and will accept the items, we will begin to prepare the donor receipt. To complete the receipt, please provide the following:
-
1. Recipient(s) name, mailing address, phone number, and estimated value of the item.
-
-
OCCTAC will provide the drop-off address of the center or delivery information for pianos.
A few rules of the road apply
-
Instruments must be playable. OCCTAC cannot afford to make major repairs on instruments to bring them up to playable condition.
-
Instruments must not have mold, rust, or accumulated dirt inside or outside the body of the instrument. Mold can be a health hazard for our students. OCCTAC will clean donated instruments, within reason.
-
String instruments with extensive cracks in the body cannot be accepted.
-
Donated instruments require an acceptable value.
-
OCCTAC is not a licensed appraiser of instruments and cannot assign a value to any donated instrument.
-
A Donation Tax Receipt will be issued for each instrument. The letter will include the name of the donor, a description of the instrument, and the date when the instrument was given along with the value of the instrument.
-
Turnaround time is 7-14 business days.

Thank you again in advance for considering an instrument donation as a possible alternative for contributing to OCCTAC.
